Halifax and Its People / 1749-1999 As a pictorial resource for Halifax history, this resource is fantastic. This site is part of Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management's "Virtual Archives". Other "must-see" collections are the Notman Studio Collection, the Buckley Family Fonds and the J.A. Irvine Fonds.
This well designed site is an extensive history of the Halifax Fire Department. It includes pictures, a list of notable fires in the city, and a memorial to firefighters lost on duty. Also includes references to the Halifax explosion.

Halifax Explosion - National Archives Site An absolutely "must-see" web site for anyone interested in the Halifax explosion. This site is brought to you by the National archives of Canada and includes a great map of the city of Halifax as it was in 1917.
In connection with the miniseries (Shattered City) on the subject, the CBC has put together an excellent website on the topic. Contains pictures, excellent graphics and interactive features
Atlantic Planners Institute - Urban Design in the Atlantic Provinces This is a great site that includes a historical overview of urban structures in Halifax, as well great information about the planning issues and development of the Hydrostone district.
Canada Death Penalty Index - Nova Scotia - a list detailing executions in Halifax and elsewhere in Nova Scotia, 1749 to 1937.
The Buildings of Dalhousie University - An Illustrated History - The title says it all - includes chronology and aerial photos.
Great info about the museum itself (Admiralty House) as well as topics such as military uniforms, naval ships, Battle of the Atlantic and WW II convoys.
